Meals at the Home Ranch in Colorado

The Home Ranch dining room combines the style and warmth of western ranch tradition with the quality and charm of Relais & Chateaux. Our meals are served family style at long oak tables. Our ranch becomes a community each week and sharing our incredible meals and experiences together is part of the tradition. There is opportunity to make new friends in a relaxed and easy environment. We host a diverse group of folks from all over the world who all enjoy the mountains, nature, ranch life, and community.

Our Chef and Our Philosophy Head Chef Clyde Nelson has been with the Home Ranch for more than 15 years. His creations have been written up in Bon Appetite, Food and Wine, Gourmet Magazine and many other culinary publications. Clyde's kitchen specializes in using only the freshest natural ingredients. All our breads and pastries are made from scratch daily and our kitchen team is dedicated to meeting your dietary requirements.

Summer Dining It's easy to eat healthy with the many choices we offer at every Home Ranch meal. Breakfast features an extensive buffet of fruit and pastries with hot entrees made to order from the kitchen. Espressos and lattes are also very popular. Lunch is served off the grill, poolside whenever possible, and that is about 99% of the time! The lunch buffet has an exhaustive variety of fresh salads every day, several selections from the grill, and delectable desserts. Dinner is a wonderful and varied experience here at Home Ranch. Some nights are formal multi-course occasions in the dining room, and other nights we enjoy the beauty of nature in a special place on the ranch. Saturday night's campfire is the highlight of the week when we share marvelous food and the experiences of the week through song and poetry.

The Elk River Valley Home Ranch does not have a liquor license, but you are welcome to bring your own or purchase wine, beer or liquor from the nearby Clark Store. There is a wine rack and a refrigerator in the kitchen (and in each room and cabin) to store your purchases. The ranch can provide you with openers, glasses and ice.

Winter Dining
In winter, buffet continental breakfast is included in your stay and lunch and dinner are served a la carte. The atmosphere is more intimate, and outside guests are welcome for lunch and dinner. So even if you do not stay at the ranch, you can join us for "Lunch and Ski" or formal dinner. Lunch is served buffet style and dinner is five course occasion. Your evening begins with a wine and hors d'oeurves reception in our cozy living room and continues in the dining room with appetizer, soup, salad, main course, dessert and coffee. Come experience one of the most unique dining experiences the Steamboat Springs area has to offer.
