Gerry Searle
Owner
Gerry -- the trail boss, and head honcho of the outfit. Gerry was almost born on horseback
-- he began riding at around age two, and by the time he was eight years old, he was
working for his uncle, driving a horse team skidding logs out of the forest. And, as he
says, the horses they drove then were nothing but broncs -- hardly broke, and you had to
look sharp to stay alive around them. Later Gerry worked as a stunt man in the movies,
doubling many stars, and he was in every single episode of High Chaparral! He has trained
horses, been a riding instructor, a horse show judge, horse breeder, a cowboy and a
rancher. In fact, he is done all the things most of us just dream about ... Oh yes, and he
is also an accomplished cowboy artist. |
Eve Searle
Owner
Eve was born in Czechoslovakia and lived through World War II and the Russian front. After
the war her family moved to India and she attended a boarding school in the Himalayas. The
Indian civil war intervened and the family was unfortunately caught right in the middle of
it. They escaped to Karachi, Pakistan, where she continued her schooling. Her family
then moved to Australia, where she finished her schooling and later became a flight
instructor. In 1971 she moved to Mexico and two years later to the United States, where
she fell in love with horses and ranching. She and Gerry met at a cattle round up on the
very ranch on which they now live -- the Grapevine. |
