Grapevine Canyon Ranch Step back in time, into a restless period of history, and join a cavalry regiment in the US Army. Wake to Reveille echoing through the canyon. Feel the thrill as Old Glory rises with the sun. Take pride in the precision and execution of drills - both with weaponry and mounted. After you "enlist", you'll be issued an authentic 1870s-1880s US Army uniform, weapons, a McClellan saddle and all appropriate tack, and a reliable mount for your term of duty. Just as the cavalry patrols over a hundred years ago, you'll ride through the rugged Dragoon Mountains - where Cochise took refuge in his Stronghold from General Crook and his soldiers, where Geronimo sought vengeance on the White Eyes. You will receive the necessary training to become a cavalry trooper and safely experience the smells, sounds, and sweeping views from the back of a horse. On patrol, you will very likely engage outlaws or renegade Indians whom you must capture and return to headquarters. The Cavalry is scheduled for Patrol on February 1st through 3rd, 2002. The itinerary follows.
Check-in at Grapevine Canyon Ranch is Thursday, January 31st at 4pm. Check-out is Sunday, February 3rd, at 2pm. The cost, per person, is $690.00. This includes uniforms, horse, equipment, accommodations, and meals. Taxes and gratuities will be figured at check-out. There is an absolute minimum of five participants required - sign up quickly so a full regiment rides out. And, why not bring a friend to share this unique experience...
