Engadin, a valley of the Inn River in eastern
Switzerland, home to Hollywoods 'Heidi', offers an ever changing
mountain landscape that is seldom visited during the summer months (to
the contrary from the winter mass-ski-tourism). When the last skiers
have left in the spring from Davos until late fall this is a paradise
for our riding vacations. You ride one of the sturdy 'Freiberg Horses'
known for their stamina and mountain sense. The trails will take you
across the mountain passes of Flüla and Albula, the viaducts and tunnels
of the well known Rath-Railway into a seldom visited summer landscape.
It is here that the first National Park of Switzerland was established
just below the Silvretta-Mountain-Range. You overnight in an inn and
mountain hut. Meals are traditional specialties including the cheese
fondue.

Itinerary
Day 1: San Jon – S-charl – Tamangur –
Pass da Costainas – Lü – Tschierv
We have a little rest in the
well-known town S-charl, where we are already close to the mountains.
Later we ride past large forests and further uphill to the mountain hut
Tamangur, where we have lunch. Crossing a mountain pass we reach the
township with the highest elevation in Europe – Lü. Then the last part
of today’s ride takes us to Tschierv which we reach in the late
afternoon.
Day 2: Tschierv – Val Mora – Buffalora
We enjoy the early hours at dawn
in unspoilt nature and reach the mountain hut Mora for lunch. A
beautiful trail leads us through the lonesome Val Mora, next to the
national park. If we’re lucky we hear the sounds of the deer and maybe
we even see some…
Day 3: Tschierv – Fuldera – Süsom Give
– Tamangur – S-charl – San Jon
Early in the morning we ride
through the picturesque Münster Valley towards the Ofen mountain pass.
At the mountain hut da Munt we enjoy our lunch before another ascent
awaits us. From the top of Funtana da S-charl (2393 meters above sea
level) we have a breathtaking view. We ride on towards the already
familiar mountain hut Tamangur. In S-charl we have time to stroll around
the village if we want.
