Horseback Riding in the mountains...what a view!

Wild Potato Mountain Ride
British Columbia, Canada

The First Nations Legend says that a woman once traveled across this range of mountains planting wild potatoes, thus the name "Potato Range". This circular trip combines the spectacular beauty of the Coast Range Mountains as well as the faster riding of the Chilcotin Plateau. Our explorations will take us from one spectacular campsite to another. Each camp is nestled adjacent to a pristine lake. We change camps all but one day. The trip covers about 110 miles (177 km) of varying terrain. The riding speed is primarily at a walk until the last two days that include trots and canters. This is a beautiful trip, with amazing vistas and blankets of wildflowers!
Explore the wilderness in Ts'yl-os Park on horseback and see country most people will never get to enjoy and you will never forget. The Potato Mountains offer a multitude of different kind of scenery and riding styles: Ride through high alpine plateaus, hidden valleys, deep mountain passes, and open sandy beaches. Enjoy the splendid views, the immense variety of wildflowers, ancient fossil beds, and the companionship of your fellow riders. Experience the simplicity of the wilderness. Each camp is nestled adjacent to a pristine lake, within a protected valley. This trip offers both the spectacular beauty and scenery of the mountains as well as the faster riding of the flatlands. All our meals are cooked over an open fire, our horses are staked and hobbled on excellent mountain grasses, and our music is the sounds of the forest. Just a simple time with life’s essentials and your trusty steed.
First and last night you will stay at the ranch and five nights in the mountain. On three of the six riding days the group will take pack horses along; no roads, no phones.
